The Wade Hampton boys track team finished second in the Lower State meet and the girls finished third.
"It is hard to find the words to say how proud I am of the boys this year in track," said boys coach, Jim Shuman. "To finish as runners-up and have five event champions is just spectacular. I am excited about this week's state championship. I know the guys will work hard to make sure they give it their best and strive to bring home the state championships."
The girls finished third and will have three competitors vying for state titles.
"I am so very proud of these girls," said Wade Hampton girls coach, Myrriah Hanna. "I am looking forward to see what Starcree Mixon, Tearra Green and Tyshaundrea O'Banner can do at the state meet this Saturday."

The Estill track team finished 18th out of 32 teams at Lower State. Many of their competitors had personal bests.
The top four athletes in each event qualified for the state meet on Saturday at Lower Richland High in Columbia.
The Lower state champions from Wade Hampton were in the 4x800 Relay Team were:
Patrick Magwood, John Callis, Leviticus Williamson, Henry Callis, alternate Sam Creswell and alternate Aaron Leedom.
The Wade Hampton boys that will be going to the State Meet are: James Johnson who placed second in the high jump; Jeremy Ford who finished third in the high jump; Jeremy Ford who also finished third in the long jump; Chris Wimberly who finished first in the discuss; the 4X 100 relay team of Devante Smith, Anthon Badger, Lorenzo Myers, Tevin Moore, Oscar Dobson and alternate Brandon Forrester who placed third; the 4X800 relay team that placed first: Patrick Magwood, John Callis, Leviticus Williamson, Henry Callis and alternate Sam Creswell and Aaron Leedom who placed first; Lorenzo Myers who placed first in the 110 hurdles; Devante Smith who placed first in the 100 meter sprint; Lorenzo Myers who placed first in the 400 meter hurdles; Patrick Magwood who finished fourth in the 800 meter run; and again Devante Smith qualified by placing second in the 200 meter sprint.

The Wade Hampton girls that will be going to state are: Tearra Green who placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles; Starcree Mixon who finished second in the 400 meter; Tyshaundrea O'Banner who finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles; and again Starcree Mixon who placed first in the 800 meter gets to go to state.

Demario Dobson will be representing Estill at state on Saturday after finishing third in the 1600 meter with a time of 5:07.32.
"Good luck to Demario Dobson at the state championship on May 16," said Estill coach J.C. Threatt.
