Wade Hampton girls basketball team hosts Edisto on Friday for fourth place in Region 5-AA and a chance at the playoffs.
"We're trying to fight for fourth place," said coach Romon Gray. "Edisto is a must win for us to go to the playoffs."
The Red Devils beat Edisto earlier this season,
The last time the Red Devils played the Cougars they beat them. The Cougars (1-12, 0-7) average 30.6 points per game while the Red Devils (3-16, 1-6) average 33.6 points.
Earlier in the week the Lady Red Devils had two losses. The Lady Red Devils lost to Barnwell 44-41 in a close contest that went into overtime. The last time the Warhorses played the Red Devils they beat them by 18 points, but not this time.
"They played real well overall," said Gray. "We missed a couple of free throws but I was well pleased at how they played."
Lindsay Tuten had an outstanding night scoring 17 points. She is emerging as a shooter capable of three-pointers. Gray also said Tierra Washington played well.
In the game against Silver Bluff, Wade Hampton lost 57-33.
"They actually played well," said Gray.
The Lady Red Devils didn't lose the game until the fourth quarter. According to Gray at half time the Bulldogs only has a 2-point lead.
"They are a well coached team," said Gray. "They got some good height. I don't have a tall post player. Overall I am well pleased with them."
Gray also said that Ta'Sha Campbell had a good night against the Bulldogs by scoring 13 points and that Washington also had a good night with 10 points.
