Red Devils make it three in a row against Ridgeland

  • Casyn Dobson

WHHS varsity baseball pitcher Casyn Dobson threw a wonderful game last Friday at home for the Red Devils, allowing no runners to cross the plate during the team’s 15-0 victory over the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars.

This makes four blowout, double-digit victories in a row for the Red Devils (5-2) this season. As well as walloping the Jags on three consecutive occasions, the Devils also put a bruising on Williston during a 14-0 victory earlier this month. Although still early in the season, the Red Devils appear to be playing well under the leadership of newly hired Head Coach Joel Vaughn.

In addition to the tremendous pitching of Dobson, who threw 12 strikeouts during his time on the mound, the WHHS batters were also able to hone in on their target. Several WHHS players came away with multiple RBIs, including Jordan Frazier, with three, and Dobson, who sent two runners across the plate.

“It's been nice to score a lot of runs, throw a lot of shutdown innings and make the plays in the field we should be making. As far as a group, we seem to be coming together and starting to gel as a team,” said Coach Vaughn. “It's early right now and our schedule will progressively get tougher; that's just the truth. So, to counter that and to keep having the success we've been having, our practice habits have to continue to get better each and every day.”
