Born Again Believing
If you are a Born Again Believing husband and have a wife, then you must know that Christ loves the church unconditionally; and He requires the same of you as a husband to your wife. This can only be accomplished if we submit ourselves to the leadership of Jesus Christ. Otherwise, we will always have an excuse about why this seems to be an impossible thing to do. (Remember; unconditional love is not merited!)
Through our love and leadership to our wives, they are to become without spot, wrinkle or any such thing. This means that husbands must be in the likeness and image of Christ Our Lord. Christ gave His life for the church so we must be willing to do the same for our wives. According to how we treat our wives, will have an effect on how God honors our prayers. (1Peter 3:7)
The church has not always been submissive to her Husband (Christ) but her Husband has always been a provider, faithful, forgiving, prayerful and loving towards her. There may be times when our wives don't act accordingly, as they have been instructed by the Word of God, but we must still love and lead them as Christ does to the church.
I continually ask myself, “Is God pleased with me through the way that I treat my wife?”
The church must always humble herself to be in the grace of God and through this she will be developed into that glorious body. God first equips a husband for a wife. Then when he is given a wife he will help equip her to be presented to God, without spot or wrinkle. Jesus is performing this same process by preparing us (The Church) for the day that we will stand before God.
When we do not walk in God's authority to lead our wives, they often look at others that are before them as an example of how their husbands ought to be.
When we take the position of standing behind our wives they often take on the responsibilities of being the one that has to lead the household.
When the husband is leading and loving his wife and the wife is submissive (giving her authority into his authority) to her husband, that marriage is honorable before God.
Our earthly marriages should be an image of our heavenly marriage to Christ our Lord!
I know from personal experience that there will be differences and disagreements in our marriages; but our personal relationship with Jesus Christ will help us overcome any adversity or challenge that we might contend with.
So husbands, love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; then loving your wives unconditionally will not only be an easy thing to do, it will be enjoyable also.
