Sandra Lynn Altman Haynie

BRUNSON - Mrs. Sandra Lynn Altman Haynie, formerly of Hilton Head Island, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 after a brief illness at the home of her mother in Brunson.
Born March 24, 1958 in Hampton County, she was the daughter of Lucy Rivers Altman and the late Woodrow Altman. During her career, she worked in the clerical field as well as being a bookkeeper, was a member of the Hilton Head Shag Club and was an avid golfer. She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Patricia Harrelson Chassereau

VARNVILLE- Mrs. Patricia Harrelson Chassereau, 66, of Curly Road, Varnville, entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 24, 2012 at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.
A memorial service will be held 6 pm, Friday, June 29, 2012 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.

Herman Carlyle Edwards

FAIRFAX - Herman Carlyle Edwards, 90, husband of the late Della M. "Kay" Edwards, died Sunday, June 10, 2012.
Mr. Edwards was a native of Atlanta, Ga. and a son of the late Herman C. and Arnezza Riley Edwards, Sr. He was raised in Oxford Orphanage, a U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII, worked for National Airlines and retired superintendent of maintenance of aviation department for Burlington Industries. He was a member of Estill Presbyterian Church.

Anthony Eugene Tucker, Sr.

HAMPTON - Mr. Anthony Eugene Tucker, Sr., 68, formerly of Savannah, GA and Hampton, SC died Saturday June 16th, 2012.
Mr. Tucker worked in the construction industry for over 40 years, and was a Construction/Project Manager with the Carson Company. He was of the Baptist faith.

Malcolm McLeod Murphy

CHARLOTTE, NC - Malcolm McLeod Murphy, 58, of Charlotte died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Murphy was born to the late Joseph Lee Murphy and Alice Camille Causey Murphy on October 17, 1953 and grew up in Pineland, SC. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. Mr. Murphy held various positions in information technology management and enjoyed golfing, hunting, coaching softball and was a black belt in tae kwon do.

Jessica Hooper McMillan

CHARLESTON - Mrs. Jessica Hooper McMillan, 31, of Cross Creek Drive in Charleston, entered into her eternal rest Sunday afternoon, June 17, 2012, following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension at the Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon, June 21, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend O'Neal Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery, 1875 Lodge Highway, Smoaks.

Matthew “Mack” White

ESTILL - Mr. Matthew "Mack" White, 70, died Saturday, April 28, 2012.
Mr. White was born in Hampton County on April 26, 1942 to the late Mr. Elijah and the late Mrs. Lydia H. White. He was a member of First Estill Baptist church in Estill and was a graduate of Estill Training School. After graduation, he relocated to Newark, New Jersey and later to Atlanta, Georgia. Having worked for many years, he retired and returned to his hometown of Estill where he resided, until his death. Mr. White was a generous and kind-hearted man who loved his family dearly.

Lacy M. Duncan

ESTILL - Lacy M. Duncan, 92, died Friday, May 18, 2012.
Mr. Duncan was born in Hampton County on Jan. 1, 1920. He was a son of the late Eulie and Julia Duncan. He became a member of Hopewell C.M.E. Church in Garnett at an early age, where he carried out his duties until his health failed. He served as Chairman of Steward Board, Trustee Board, and was a Class Leader for numerous years. He was a member of the Beulah Lodge #88, Union Burial Society, and Beth-Zion Male Chorus. Mr. Duncan was a treasurer for Breeler Field Cemetery for many years.

Mildred Drawdy Mole

HAMPTON - Mrs. Mildred Drawdy Mole, 95, of Charleston Highway, Hampton, entered into her eternal rest Thursday morning, June 14, 2012, at the John Edward Harter Nursing Center in Fairfax. She was the wife of sixty-eight years to the late Mr. Oddie Wyman Mole.
Funeral services were conducted four o'clock Saturday afternoon, June 16, 2012, from the Sandy Run Baptist Church, 2100 Sandy Run Road, Hampton, with The Reverend Ronnie Avant, The Reverend Paul W. Reid, and The Reverend Dr. Thomas Kelly officiating. Interment, Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

Blanche Phillips Sinclair

VARNVILLE - Mrs. Blanche Phillips Sinclair, 99, of West Pine St. in Varnville died late Monday evening May 28th, 2012 at the Hampton Regional Medical Center in Varnville.
Born January 4th, 1913 in Jasper County she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Phillips and Evelena Pope Phillips. Mrs. Sinclair was a homemaker and a member of the Hampton First Christian Church. She will be remembered for her love of gardening and flowers. She was married to the late Elmore Cape Sinclair.

Mary Elizabeth Bowers Saxon

FAIRFAX - Mary Elizabeth Bowers Saxon, daughter of the late Deacon Henry Bowers and the late Mrs. Ethel Bowers was born in Brunson, on February 25, 1944. At an early age she united herself to Cherry Grove Christian Church in Brunson, SC. She attended the public schools of Hampton and Allendale Counties and graduated from Fairfax Training School. Mary was employed by Brunson Dry Cleaning Service and Burger King and was a faithful employee for many years.

Martha Elizabeth Moore

HAMPTON - Mother Martha Elizabeth Moore affectionately known as ‘Ms. Lizzie' was born August 13, 1932 in Hampton County to the late Mr. Dave Daniel and the late Mrs. Cora Daniels. She attended the Hampton County Colored School and the Bettis Academy in Trenton, SC. She worked many years in public service and was certified by the State of South Carolina as a Nursing Assistant.

James Bowers

HAMPTON - James Bowers was born March 16, 1950 to Elderess Queenesther B. Singleton and the late Mr. Quillie Miles Bowers and was reared by a devoted stepfather, Elder Jessie L. Singleton,Sr. in Hampton. James was a 1969 graduate of North District Training School Varnville. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Holy Church where he served as choir Chaplin and Sunday school teacher. James was a former employer of Savannah River Site, Aiken.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Quillie Miles Bowers. On May 5, 2012, James was called home to be with the Lord.

Suzanne DeLoach Watson

OOLTEWAH, TN - Mrs. Suzanne DeLoach Watson of Ooltewah, TN passed away at residence on May 22nd, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 9th, 1955 in Varnville, SC. Suzanne attended the College of Charleston and Trident Technical College. She was a realtor for 14 years in the greater Chattanooga area, and was a member of the Bayview Baptist Church of Ooltewah.

Tony Lamar Hill

Tony, affectionately known as Lamar, was born in Columbia, South Carolina on March 16, 1987, to Eddie "Tony" Taylor and the late Tanya Hill Dash.
Lamar began preaching to his family at the very young age of 5, and could quote scripture before he learned to read. He always told his mother and grandmother that he wanted to be a preacher.

COLUMBIA - Funeral services were held Monday, May 14, 12 Noon, Bibleway Church of Atlas Road, Columbia, SC with burial in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia.
Tanya Denise Hill Dash was born August 26, 1969 in Columbia, South Carolina, to Dorothy Taylor Springer and the late Bobby Joe Hill. On, Sunday, May 6, 2012, our beloved Tanya, was called home to be with the Lord, along with her oldest son, Tony Lamar Hill. They were traveling to Darian Baptist Church of Pelion, where Lamar would become Pastor later in the evening.
