Oscar Bryant Gardner
ALLENDALE - Oscar Bryant Gardner, 59, of 276 Gillyard Street, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at Colleton Regional Medical Center in Walterboro.
Mr. Gardner, son of the late Mr. Elijah Gardner and Mrs. Helen Gardner, was born September 20, 1950 in Gifford. Educated in the public schools of Hampton County, "Oscar" as he was affectionately called, was gainfully employed as an automobile mechanic by Hampton Auto Electric and Western Auto, both of Hampton. At an early age, he joined St. Peter A.M.E. Church, Gifford, and subsequently became a baptized member of Happy Home Baptist Church, Allendale. He was an avid fisherman. Oscar, who made himself a stranger to no one, was respected and loved by all who knew him.
To cherish his memories and mourn his home going are: His loving wife: Mrs. Wilhelmenia Gardner of the home; His children: Ms. Tina Williams and Ms. Tiffany Gardner, both of Allendale, and Mr. Oscar Gardner, Jr. (Kia) of Jersey City, New Jersey; (9) Grandchildren: Ronnie Williams, Jr., Jaquavian Williams, Quendrell Williams, Tra'vonta Williams, Celestavia Gardner, Rodriavanna Williams, Alexis Elmore, Shaquavian Elmore and Olivia Nguyen; (5) Sisters: Mrs. Jenny Ford (Bill), Mrs. Irene Smart and Ms. Maxine Gardner, all of Jersey City, New Jersey, Ms. Patricia O'Banner and Ms. Mary Reid, both of Pineland; (5) Brothers: Mr. Roger Gardner, Mr. Randolph Gardner and Mr. Albert Gardner, all of Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr. George Bryant of New York and Mr. Ezekiel Gardner of Hampton; Sister-in-law, Ms. Patricia Johnson of Allendale; Brother-in-law, Mr. Ezekiel Allen (Marta) of Valley Cottage, New York; (4) Aunts: Ms. Henrietta, Ms. Inez, Ms. Joanne and Ms Alterea; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friends: Teddy Erving, Jason McQuire, Wendall Cruz, Wendall Cruz, Jr., Jermaine Williams and Raymond Mitchell.
Funeral service for Mr. Oscar Bryant Gardner, 59, of 276 Gilyard Street, will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010, 1:00 P.M. at Happy Home Baptist Church, Allendale. Committal, interment and final prayer will be conducted in Alls Cemetery of Allendale.
Visitations will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Washington's Funeral Home Chapel.
Washington's Funeral Home of Hampton is in charge of the arrangements.
