CHARLESTON Mrs. Nella Peeples Ward, 89, widow of Mr. Ross Delmas Ward of Charleston, SC entered into Heaven with her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening January 17th, 2012 at the Lexington Extended Care Facility, Carol Campbell Place in Lexington, SC.
Born January 10th, 1923 in Cummings, she was the daughter of the late Kirby Tucker Peeples, Sr. and Susan Dorothy Mixson Peeples. Mrs. Ward retired from the Charleston Navy Ship Yard as a Clerk Typist. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in North Charleston, volunteered at Trident Hospital, and was a graduate of Varnville High School. Mrs. Ward will be remembered for her faith in her Lord, her love of her family, and her love for gardening and flowers.
She is survived by two sons: Michael Ward and wife Brigitte of Goose Creek, Franklin Ward and wife Jo Ann of Columbia, three daughters: Brenda Thompson and husband Olan of Lexington, Wanda Dupree and husband Legrande of Ladson, and Sandra Brown and husband Grant of Dunca, and one brother, Kirby T. Peeples, Jr. of Fernandina Beach, FL, there are 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, one sister, and a grandson.
Funeral services were be held Friday January 20th, 2012 at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Fitze. Burial was in the Sand Hill Cemetery, near Varnville, SC.
