Maurice Booker Collins

VARNVILLE - Maurice Booker Collins, 53, died Sunday, February 28, 2010.
Mrs. Maurice Booker Collins, daughter of Ms. Carrie and the late Mr. Rudolph Booker, was born in Sumter, South Carolina on October 16, 1956. She was reared by her maternal aunt and uncle, the late Mrs. Ophelia Joyner and Deacon Leroy Joyner. Maurice received her early education in the public schools of Hampton County. She also attended the former South Carolina State College, Orangeburg. At an early age, Maurice Booker Collins surrendered her life to Christ and became a baptized member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville. There she served faithfully. She was gainfully employed by Allendale Correctional Institution, Allendale.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Daniel Collins.
Her son, Byron, preceded her in death.
Surviving are: Her loving husband, Mr. Daniel Collins of the home; (1) Son, Mr. Aaron Booker of Varnville; Her step-daughter, Ms. Shereea Collins of Hilton Head; (2) Loving grandchildren; Her mother, Ms. Carrie Booker of North Carolina; (1) Sister, Ms. Renée Booker of North Carolina; A special sister, Mrs. Jennie Turner of Augusta, Georgia; (2) Brothers: Mr. Wayne Booker of North Carolina and Mr. Charles Booker (Sharon) of New York; (3) Sisters-in-law: Ms. Allean Collins, Ms. Millie Dankins and Ms. Deloris Roberts, all of Varnville; (3) Brothers-in-law: Mr. Charlie Cohen (Elaine), Mr. Charles Cohen, all of Bronx, New York and Mr. Ricky Collins of Varnville; Other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, 2010, 1:00 P.M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville with burial in the church cemetery.
Washington's Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of the arrangements.
