Margaret Jarrell Bailey

COTTAGEVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Jarrell Bailey, wife of the late Dennis Bailey, passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 at Colleton Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 76.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Hampton County February 3, 1934 a daughter of the late Mary Eva Mock Jarrell and Ervin Terry Jarrell. She was a devout Christian, having been a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Cottageville for many years, and was a retired employee of Wal Mart Inc. She was preceded in death in August of 2005 by her husband of 55 years, Dennis Bailey.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Long and her husband Leroy, of Aiken and by three sons, Dennis Gerald Bailey, and wife Lynn, James vonLehe Bailey, and wife Wanda, and Terry Bailey, and wife Tina, all of Cottageville. There are six grandchildren: Scott Long, Erin Dutton, James V. Bailey II, Jonathan Bailey, Ashley Crittenden, and Leslye Bailey. Mrs. Bailey also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Cameron Long, Cailyn Dutton, Christopher and Haley Long, Jacob and Matthew Bailey, and Ciannon Crittendon. There are five sisters: Louise McAlhaney, Evelyn Griner, and Annette Griner of Varnville, Laverne Bishop of Hampton, and Linda Crapse of Estill. Mrs. Bailey has two brothers, Oliver Jarrell of Estill, and David (Casey) Jarrell of Varnville, as well as two sisters-in-law, Annie Ruth Pye and Bernice Bailey of Cottageville. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Jarrell.
Funeral services were held Monday,, Aug. 23 at 11:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spring Hill Baptist Church.
