Joseph Earl “Joe” Wooten

ESTILL - Mr. Joseph Earl "Joe" Wooten, Sr., 81, of Burnell Rd. near Estill died early Thursday morning November 24, 2011 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Born May 24, 1930 in Hampton County he was the son of the late Joe Wooten and Leona Jarrell Wooten. Mr. Wooten served his country in the United Stated Army in Korea from 1952-54, retired from Westinghouse Corp. in 1988 having worked in the shipping department and was a lifelong farmer. He was a lifelong member of the Nixville Baptist Church where he was a deacon from 1964 to present day and served the church in many capacities throughout the years.
Surviving besides his wife of 60 years Annie Liza Padgett Wooten of the home: are one son: Joseph, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Varnville, SC three daughters: Jane Youmans and husband Roy of Hampton, SC Ellen Brinson and husband Doug of Walterboro, SC and Georgia Ann DeLoach and husband Steven of Varnville, SC. There are three brothers: Jimmy, Edison, and Rudy Wooten all of Estill, SC, four sisters: Loretta Moore of Columbia, SC, Louise Stanley of W. Columbia, SC, Nan Maloney of James Island, SC and Gloria Brunson of Hampton, SC. There are nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27th, 2011 at 3 P.M. in the Nixville Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Paul Creason. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials in his honor may be directed to the Nixville Baptist Church New Life Center or the Youth Ministry of Nixville Baptist Church, 3915 Two Sister's Ferry Rd., Estill, SC 29918.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of the arrangements.
