Johnnie “Cootney” Williams

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Johnnie "Cootney" Williams, 62, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 at the Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr. Williams was born January 30, 1948 in Brunson, SC to Ms. Annie L. Ritter and the late William Henry Ritter. He attended the public school in Brunson, SC. Later he relocated to Brooklyn, NY and finished his education. He joined the Mt. Arrat Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. Johnnie was employed by Machinery Company in New York. One of the things he enjoyed
was sitting around joking and laughing with family members.
Mr. Williams was predeceased by his father, William H. Ritter, Sr., four brothers, William Henry, Jr., Aldolph, Milton and Kenneth Williams and a sister, Alice Gilyard.
Surviving are: his mother, Annie L. Ritter, Fairfax; three children, Wendy Lassenburg, PA; Gidget Wright, Hampton, Georgia; Shaday Lewis, Virginia Beach, Virginia; five brothers, Edward (Cora) Williams, New York; Cleveland (Theresa) Ritter, Fairfax; Marvin (Larvene) Williams, New York; Randolph (Larshonne) Williams, New York; Carl (Kimberly) Williams, Owings Mill, Maryland; two sisters, Barbara Toussaint, Fairfax; Ebony Williams, Charleston a devoted Sister-in-low, Patricia (McCann) Williams; one son-in-law; three aunts, Luell Hills, Genora Black and Helen Newton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at Jackson Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Brunson with burial in the church cemetery.
Riley's Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
