Howard "Peach" Mitchell, Jr., 54, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010 in the Hampton Regional Medical Cenger in Varnville after a brief illness.
Howard "Peach" Mitchell, Jr. was born June 25, 1956 in Allendale County, SC to the late Mr. Howard Mitchell and the late Mrs. Alice Lee Gardner Mitchell. Howard was affectionately known as "Peach" to his family members. He was a very loving brother and uncle. He left a vacancy in the family circle and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evon and Juanita and a brother Rudolph.
Surviving are: sisters, Alice (Joseph) Wesley, Barbara (Jim) Gregory, Willa Mae Mitchell, all of Gifford; brothers: Horney Donell Mitchell Gifford, and Ronald (Synovia) Mitchell, Summerville, South Carolina; Joseph Youmans, New York; several aunts Hattie Williams, Gifford, South Carolina; Geraldine (Sammie) Ginn, Gifford; Helen Mitchell, Carne Mitchell, Albertha Mitchell and Maude Johnson all of New York; Geraldine Mitchell and Maybelle Robinson, New Jersey; Alfreida Richardson,North Carolina; Victoria (Rev. Henry) Creech, Orangeburg; Deloris (George) Williams of Columbia; Jessie Mae Kailgo, Riverdale, Georgia; Maggie Lou Albertha Gardner, Fairfax; uncles, Lewis(Ernie Mae) Mitchell, Fairfax; Johnell Mitchell, Fort Worth, TX; A great uncle, Brooker (Arlean) Devore, Gifford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at Union Baptist Church in Luray.
Riley's Funeral Home, Hampton Chapel, Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
