Hattie Taylor McKnight

FAIRFAX - Hattie Taylor McKnight, 87, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010 at the Allendale County Hospital in Fairfax.
Mrs. McKnight was born in Allendale County on Oct. 22, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Johnny Taylor and Isabell Bryant Taylor. She attended the public schools in Old Barnwell County and was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church where she was a member of the Missionary Society and Steward Board. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Lee Porter McKnight, Sr., this union was blessed with eight children. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lenel "Molly" McKnight and Sanders "Drag" McKnight; one daughter, Jon Etta McKnight; three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are: Her husband, Lee Porter McKnight, Sr. of the home; children, Estella Taylor Holmes, Bessie Mae Taylor Eady, Ernie Mae (Louis) Mitchell, Lee Porter McKnight, Jr. (Mary Louise) and Otis McKnight, all of Fairfax; daughter-in-law, Beaulah McKnight of Fairfax; sister-in-law, Bertha Lee McKnight of Estill; 18 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 6 great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery.
M.F. Riley's Funeral Home of Fairfax was in charge of the arrangements.
