Ethel S. Green

YEMASSEE - Ethel S. Green, 80, widow of Freddie Green of the Pocotaligo community of Yemassee, SC, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Green was born on November 20, 1929. She was a native of Florence. She attended the local public schools in Florence and resided for many years in Amityville, NY. In New York, she was employed with the NY State Department of Mental Health as a mental health therapist aide specialist in the Suffork Developmental Center, Huntington, NY. Baptized at an early age, she continued her Christian fellowship throughout her life. Her last affiliation was with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Pocotaligo.
Surviving are: Her sons and daughter, Luther Andrews, North Charleston; Patricia Garraway, Yemassee; Freddie (Chris) Green, Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, Nichole Jones, Yemassee; Candace Green, Atlanta, Ga; Freddie Green, Jr., Hersey, PA; Lindsay Green and Myles Green, Wilmington, NC; eight great grendchildren; four sisters, Carolyn (Johnnie) HIlton, Columbia; Barbara (Lee) Strickland, Pikersville, Maryland; Annette Bellamy Bey, Baltimore, Maryland; and Denece (David) Eliott, Aberdeen, Maryland; other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, 12 noon in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Pocotaligo.
Young Funeral Home of Yemassee was in charge of the arrangements.
