CUMMINGS - Mrs. Diane Shuman Thomas, 61, of the Cummings community near Varnville died Monday morning, January 18, 2010 in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1949 in Hampton County, she was the daughter of the late Julian "Biddy" Shuman and Marie Stanley Shuman. She was as an administrative assistant with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (The Webb Center in Garnett, SC) for 27 years and was a member of Deep Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are: her husband, Swinton Thomas of the home, one daughter, Julie T. Jarrell and husband Kevin of Brunson and 2 step grandchildren Meghan and Summer Jarrell. She was predeceased by her brother, Billy Ray Shuman and her sister, JoAnne Harriott.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at 11 AM in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial to in the Deep Branch Cemetery near Varnville.
Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
