HILTON HEAD - Cora Lee Simmons, 67, formerly of the Yemassee community, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her residence on Hilton Head Island. Born March 10, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Daniels and Martha Griffin Daniels. She received her education in the local public schools of Hampton County. She has resided most of her life in the Yemassee community. In her early years she attended Fennell Hill New Church of Christ, Yemassee. For numerous years, she was employed tat he Village Restaurant, Yemassee and Shoney's of Hilton Head. She was married to the late Robert Simmons.
Surviving are: her sons and daughters, Linda Bryan, Hilton Head, Hugh Daniels, Savannah, GA, David (Valery) Daniels, Jesup, Georgia, Douglas (Susan) Simmons, Margaret Taylor, both of Yemassee, Terry (Fenton) Cutler, Hilton Head, Jessica (John) Simmons, Yemassee, Diane Ramos, New York, Larry Simmons, Atlantic City, NJ, preceded in death by Blondell, Simmons, Bertumae Simmons, and Robert Simmons, Jr., and . Caletta Simmons; Four sisters, Mattie Howard, Washington, DC, Elizabeth (Lawrence) Lowe, Charlotte, NC, Annie (Joe) Pryor, Helen (Herbert) Alston, both of Dale; a brother, Levi Riley, Pennsylvania; a brother and two sisters preceded her in death, Edward Daniels, Jr., Ruth Ann Daniels, and Rosanna Daniels, a sister-in-law, Sharon Daniels Frazier, Yemassee; 24 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; other relatives.　
Funeral services were held 12 p.m. Saturday in the Fennell Hill New Church of Christ in Yemassee. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery in Barkersville, SC.
Young Funeral Home of Yemasse was in charge of the arrangements.
