NORTH AUGUSTA - Mr. Charles O. Connelly, Jr., 94, of Willow Run, North Augusta, SC, died November 19, 2011.
Mr. Connelly was a native of Charleston, a former resident of Alexandria, Louisiana and Varnville, having made North Augusta his home for the past 16 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta and the Ann Gates Sunday School Class and a former member of the Hampton First Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Connelly was the former co-owner of Clark and Company General Contractors and a former member of the Hampton Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was an Irish Tenor Soloist having sung at many weddings and funerals.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Miriam Hoover Connelly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Larry and Linda Connelly, Decatur, Georgia and Don and Kay Connelly, Avondale Estates, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Stan Bryant, North Augusta; six grandchildren, Nathan Connelly, Ben Connelly, Jennifer Petty, Chris Connelly, Beth Barranco and Charles Bryant; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 11 o'clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Pineview Memorial Park.
