Raymond Larry Belger

 

ALLENDALE - Raymond Larry Belger age, 70 husband of Judy Herndon Belger died Saturday, July 22, 2017.

Mr. Belger was a son of the late Raymond A. and Marjorie Matthews Belger, Jr. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from the SC National Guard as SFC with the 163 Support Bat. Larry enjoyed coaching and coached the Allendale Academy football team for many years and was a former deacon and member of Allendale First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mary Jane Benton Crapse of Savannah Highway in Furman, died Wednesday night, Jul. 12, 2017, in the Hampton Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Crapse was born May 14, 1948, in Hampton County, a daughter of the late Jake and Loreen Bowers Benton.  She had retired after 25 years of service as a Dietitian at the Estill Middle School.  She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church and loved spending time with her family.

Joyce Kathleen Norton DeLoach, 84, widow of John Edwards DeLoach, passed peacefully into her eternal heavenly home on Wednesday, Jul. 5, 2017. She was born on February 26, 1933, in her Estill childhood home, which her mother described as “A very cold day.” She was the middle child of Carl & Kathleen Norton and sister to Carl M. Norton, Jr., June N. Chavers, Daniel G. Norton, and Judith N. Rivers.

Bridie Stanley Cook, 88, a retired nurse, died peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in Lexington, SC.

Born December 11, 1928, in Hampton, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Julia (Smith) Stanley. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Norris Cook, and by her brothers, John, Junior and James Stanley, and her sister, Birdie Stanley Harvey.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Alice Cook of Columbia and Tony and Donna Cook of New Orleans, LA, and by her grandsons, Dustin and Nolan Branham of Westminster, MD.

Georgia Edelia Riley Mackey, 84, resident of 813 Riley Road North, widow of Raymond Fred Mackey, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at her home.

Born March 16, 1933, in Hodges, she was a daughter of the late Eldred Allen Riley, Sr. and Mattie Edelia Park Riley. She was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School and Spartanburg General Hospital Nursing School and served as a Registered Nurse until her retirement from Home Healthcare of Laurens County.

She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Charles R Walsh (Charlie), age 78, of Alpharetta, GA passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, after an extended illness. Mr. Walsh was born in Hampton, SC on May 5, 1939.  He was the son of the late Raymond C. Walsh and Verna D. Walsh. He graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1957, moved to Charleston SC and began a position with Charleston Paper Mill in data processing. In 1969 he moved to Atlanta to pursue a career with data processing. In 1983 he went to work for Railcar Management Inc.

Mr. Howard Reid Porter, Sr. of Allendale, SC, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, in the University Hospital in Augusta, GA. He was born Mar. 21, 1930, in Abbeville County, son of the late Charlie C. Porter and Lunette Blanchett Porter. He was the founder and President of R & R Motor Company, Inc., and was formerly an Eagle Scout, a South Carolina State Trooper, Plant Manager of J.P. Stevens, Inc., and was a Command First Sergeant with the South Carolina National Guard.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Joe Willard Collins, born March 1, 1940 in the family home near Hilda, will be held 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston. The family will visit with family and friends immediately following the service on Wednesday.  Memorials may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Virginia Morris, 471 Delk Avenue, Barnwell, SC 29812. His grandsons are honored to serve as his pallbearers.

Joe passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

James Oscar Rowell, 65, of Varnville, SC passed away Friday, Apr. 14, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Rowell was born Jul. 17, 1951, in Hampton, SC to the late Harold J. Rowell and Mary Lee Peeples Rowell. He was an auto and tractor mechanic for North End Tractor and Smith’s Auto Body. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Cypress Creek Baptist Church.

YEMASSEE - Deacon Avery Clayton Thompson, Sr. was born on September 2, 1956 in Brooklyn New York to Elder Robert Arnell Thompson, Jr. and Lady Ruby Alexander Thompson. During his early days, he attended P.S. 219 in Brooklyn, NY. Also, he worshiped at Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ, where he was active in the youth and music ministry.

Evangelist Vionnia Adams

VARNVILLE - Evangelist Vionnia Adams, the beloved daughter of the late Deacon Jasper Dunbar and Mrs. Maggie Ree Williams Dunbar was born April 3, 1938 in Varnville, Hampton County, SC.

On Wednesday morning, April 5, 2017, at Medical University Hospital, Charleston, SC, Vionnia’s Maker called her from earthly toils to rest.  Even as our family grieve, we humbly say, Amen.

At an early age, “Vionnia” confessed Christ as Lord and Savior and became a baptized member of Zion Fair Baptist Church, Varnville, SC.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Hampton County, April 28, 1952, a daughter of the late William James Roberts and Virginia Gray Roberts. She had worked in the Respiratory Department as a Nurse and was a member of the Beaufort Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ruby Crews Freeman of Charleston Highway near Hampton, died Sunday afternoon at her residence.

Mrs. Freeman was born in Hampton, November 18, 1921, a daughter of the late George Tillman Crews and Ollie Nix Crews.  She was a Homemaker and had been a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.  She was a member of the St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church in Hampton.

Mrs. Patty Wingler Massey of Cain Street in Hampton, S.C. died Monday evening, Feb. 27, 2017, at her residence after an extended illness.

Mrs. Massey was born in Hampton County, Oct. 17, 1967, a daughter of Roy Reece Wingler and the late Shirley Nix Wingler. She was a registered nurse and worked in the Lowcountry area hospitals, as well as a charge nurse in the Allendale, operating room nurse at Hampton Regional, and also was a home health nurse. She was a member of the Brunson Baptist Church.
