Hampton County EMS was busy over the last few days responding to several car accidents that officials say are all weather related.
"We caution everyone that with as much rain as we have been getting lately that tree roots are saturated and when the wind picks up the trees can become top heavy and may fall across the highway," said EMS spokesperson Susanne Peeples.
"Please do not approach these trees due to the fact there could be risks involved such as downed power lines. Remember, your safety comes first."
During the past few days emergency responders and law enforcement responded to the following accidents:
- EMS responded to a car versus tree around 7:30 a.m. Saturday on Savannah Highway (601 South) at the bridges. One person, who was reportedly entrapped, was transported to Hampton Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and the highway was shut down for over two hours.
