This past weekend on March 13, the Hampton County Sheriff's Office implemented its initial program called "Operation Everywhere." This operation was conducted throughout the county and included multiple license checkpoints and saturated patrol. The operation netted 47 written citations and three served warrants. The following is a breakdown of the violations and the numbers included within the operation:
1) Speeding: 8 citations
2) Beginner Permit Violations: 2
3) Simple Possession of Marijuana: 3 citations
4) No S.C. Driver's License: 2 citations
5) Driving Under Suspension 1st offense: 2 citations
6) Driving Under Suspension 3rd offense: 1 citation
7) Driving Under Suspension 7th offense: 1 citation
8) Failure To Stop For Blue Light/Siren: 2 citations
9) ABC Violation/Liquor Violation: 1 citation
10) Open Container Beer/Wine: 7 citations
11) Defective Equipment: 3 citations
12) No Driver's License In Possession: 1 citation
13) Seatbelt Violation: 2 citations
14) Littering: 1 citation
15) Habitual Offender: 1 citation
16) Disobedience To Officer/Traffic: 1 citation
17) Improper Turn: 2 citations
18) Illegal Weapon: 1 citation
19) Child Restraint Violation: 6 citations
20) Warrants Served: 3
"Overall, for the first time out with this operation, things were very successful," Hampton County Sheriff T.C. Smalls said. "This operation is being done as a way to also work with the community and allow the public an opportunity to have access to law enforcement and give them an opportunity to relay information to law enforcement while the officers are in their communities. We will continue these efforts periodically as we want visitors and citizens alike to know we are here for them and will keep them safe while they are in the county."
