VARNVILLE - A Hampton man may be facing charges after allegedly making threats over the phone to a Hampton County 911 dispatcher.
A 47-year-old female county dispatcher filed an incident report with the Varnville Police Department on Feb. 14 accusing a 60-year-old Kinard Lane, Hampton man of threatening to slap her during a telephone conversation.
According to the VPD report, the male subject called the county dispatch four times requesting that police unlock a car in the Fred's parking lot. After the fifth call and after being told several times that the Varnville Police Department could not unlock vehicles unless there was a child or an animal in the car, the man allegedly threatened to slap the dispatcher in the face, stated the report.
The report also stated that when questioned by a responding officer the subject said that there were two sides to every story and the victim stated that she would sign a warrant.
The incident remains under investigation by the Varnville Police Department. Police say they plan to review the 911 tape and, if threats were made, a warrant would be served.
