Mailman killed in one-car accident in Cummings
Emergency officials are still investigating a one-vehicle acccident that was reported shortly before 5 p.m.Monday on Ram Horn Road in Cummmings that left a rural mail carrier dead.
Charles Henry Houck, 63, of 202 Cain St., Hampton, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Hampton County Deputy Coroner Susanne Peeples.
Houck's truck was found almost completely submerged in a creek near the road, with only one taillight showing.
Houck was a U.S. Postal Service carrier for the Varnville area.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
