Earl expected to be no threat to Hampton County
According to the most recent forecasts from the National Weather Service, Hurricane Earl is not expected to be a threat to Hampton County or the Lowcountry.
The following message was sent Tuesday afternoon from Susanne Peeples, Hampton County Emergency Preparedness Director:
"Everyone is anxiously waiting on Hurricane Earl. The National Weather Service is very confident that the storm will stay off the east coast and will be of no threat to Hampton County. I would like to remind each of you there are already more storms behind Earl and Fiona. Please review your (hurricane) plans as I have suggested over the last few months."
Coastal areas of the southeast may experience some above-normal winds, storm surges, or riptides. Caution is still advised in coastal waters.
Additional information will be provided if needed.
