Yemmassee PD greet Fennell students on first day

Students returned to school for a new school year at Fennell Elementary School in Yemassee and officers were on hand to personally greet the students and parents dropping of children. Students were surprised by an assembly showcasing new police K9 "Zeka". Zeka demonstrated her ability to sniff out drugs among her many other talents!

"Being out at the school on the first day is not only important to the parents but the students as well, forging bonds with these young children is crucial and helps develop trust with officers," said Yemassee Police Chief Gregory Alexander. "The more they trust the police, the more likely they are to reach out to us if they have a problem."
