Local Cub Scouts receive awards
On April 29, Cub Scout Pack 664 held their final awards to recognize the hard work of all the Cubs. We had a total of 17 present. We were assisted by Hampton Boy Scout Troop 664 led by Scoutmaster Richard Smith and Assistant Scoutmaster Angela Evans. The boys present to assist were Michael Evans, Dalton Smith, Ian Lawton and Jaliel Miller.
Five members of Cub Scout Pack 664 received their Arrow of Light badges: Charles David "CD" Bishop, Julian Jones, Carey Britton, Christopher Hopkins, and Al-Tariq "TJ" Johnson. They are pictured at top right with their leaders, Karl Bishop and Crystal Kinard.
In our Wolf den, we had all Cubs gain rank this year. They were Jacob Crosby, Logan Hiers, Ojarran Miley, Troy Singleton, Connor Walsh and Charles Williams. They worked very hard with their leader, Scott Hiers, and plan on joining again to move forward in Scouting to earn the Bear Rank next year. In our Bear den, we had all but one Cub gain rank this year. Those who gained rank were Alexander Buzzell, Jamarcus Grant, Javaris Jones and Connor Murdaugh. They also worked very hard to become successful and will continue next year in Webelos. In our Webelo den, we had both Nicholas Hughey and Wiley Whitlock to gain rank and will be working toward their Arrow of Light next year. In the Arrow of Light den, all Cubs gained rank and will be moving to Boys Scout troops of their choice next year. Those who gained rank are Charles David Bishop, Carey Britton, Christopher Hopkins, Julian Jones, Byron Johnstone, and Al-Tariq Johnson.
We are very proud of all of their accomplishments and ready to see what their future Scouting career brings. We had a Wolf den led by Scott Hiers, a Bear den led by Lonnie Grant and Lacy Buzzell, a Webelo den led by John Hughey and Mike Whitlock, and an Arrow of Light den led by Karl Bishop, Kevin Johnstone and Crystal Kinard. We have a total of 19 Cubs that are in our pack and are all active for most events. We have our meetings starting back Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Connexxion (old skating rink).
