Little Buddies event snags kids' interest
The 2017 annual Little Buddies Fishing Tournament at Lake Warren State Park took place Saturday, May 1.
It was a perfect day to be outside with a fishing rod in your hand Saturday at Lake Warren State Park, and a sizable turnout descended upon the banks and boat ramps of the lake to take part in the 2017 Little Buddies Fishing Tournament.
Lines hit the water promptly at sunrise and weigh-in was at noon. Although only one bass was caught all day, a good number of pan fish were hooked by youthful participants. Trophies were awarded for three separate categories of fish: bass, catfish and pan fish.
Before trophies were awarded, a raffle drawing was held and numerous outdoor themed prizes were awarded to participants and their families. Children were thrilled to receive items like tackle boxes, fishing rods and reels and outdoor themed artwork.
The following children won trophies during the event:
Bass Division-first place Landon Malphrus
Catfish Division-first place Randi Jarrell; second place, Judah Trent and third place Melvin Drawdy.
Pan Fish Division-first place, Owen Wooten; second place, Rylan Malphrus and third place Randi Jarrell.
