Brunson Lions fry fish

The Brunson Lions Club held their annual fish fry to benefit charity on April 24.

Organizers expected to sell around 900 plates per food this year, in a town with a population of far less than that. Fresh fried hush puppies and ‘slaw accompanied the fish that is a hit with Hampton County residents, who line up to purchase take out plates or eat-in meals.

While eating-in, patrons were greeted with smiling Wade Hampton JROTC cadets and old, familiar faces. Fellowship and laughter went down as smoothly as the sweet tea. The cost of each plate was $8 and all proceeds benefit the Lion’s Club’s sight conservation programs.
