Authors Under the Live Oaks at Frampton Plantation House & Visitors Center

“AUTHORS UNDER THE LIVE OAKS” LOWCOUNTRY AUTHORS BOOK SIGNING SERIES TO DEBUT AT FRAMPTON PLANTATION ON MARCH 18.

  • As of press time, here are the authors who have agreed to participate in Saturday’s Authors Under the Live Oaks (from left, starting at the top):

Mark your calendars for the first AUTHORS UNDER THE LIVE OAKS event scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2017, 9:30am – 4:00pm. The event will take place on the grounds of the Historic Frampton Plantation, 1 Lowcountry Lane, Yemassee, S.C. (Interstate 95 Exit 33). “Authors Under the Live Oaks” is founded by Beaufort authors Jack Gannon and Cyndi Williams-Barnier.

This quarterly FREE event assembles authors from the Lowcountry for a day of book signings and networking. Visitors traveling on Interstate 95 or US 17 may visit this Civil War Battle Site (Battle of Pocotaligo, October 1862) and enjoy the beautiful live oaks surrounding the 19th Century house that is now home to the SOUTH CAROLINA LOWCOUNTRY TOURISM COMMISSION. Visitors can meet with the authors and talk one-on-one about their creative processes and future works, as well as tour the historic grounds of Frampton Plantation.

“Our goal is to help promote literacy in general. Having highly talented local authors involved in this event not only gives new exposure to the authors, but also gives the public an opportunity to intimately meet the talent which is so close to home,” said Gannon.

Beaufort’s own J and C Wordsmiths, the Pat Conroy Literary Center, South Carolina Wildlife magazine writer and humorist Michael DeWitt of Hampton County and Frogmore native and former heavyweight amateur champion boxer turned author Zeke Wilson are just several of the local authors who will be here.

The PAT CONROY LITERARY CENTER is a supporter of the “Authors Under the Live Oaks” event and its authors. The Center is a nonprofit organization that is fully committed to creating an inclusive reading and writing community that will honor Pat Conroy’s memory and extend his love of teaching, language and literature to future generations. To learn more about the center, please go to their website at http://patconroyliterarycenter.org/.

Three other “Authors Under the Live Oaks” events are scheduled for 2017: June 10, September 16, and December 16 (9:30am – 4:00pm each day).
