Ruth’s Wardrobe celebrates 45th
Hettie Dobson, owner of Ruth’s Wardrobe of downtown Hampton, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their 45th anniversary of operation.
A group of around 20 individuals attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. Hampton Mayor Pro-Tem Pete Hagood, Ruth’s Wardrobe owner Hettie Dobson, original owner Rev. Aiken R. Ruth and Dobson’s daughter, Alexis Dobson, cut the ribbon at noon last Friday, March 3.
After the ribbon cutting, refreshments were provided by Janet Housey.
After starting the business out of his home in Varnville, with great local success, Ruth soon outgrew his home location and moved to his second building, and current Ruth’s location, on Lee Avenue in the early 1980’s.
Now managed by Hettie’s daughter, Alexis, the store remains in the watchful care of the immediate family. Ruth’s Wardrobe would like to extend their warmest thanks to the residents of Hampton County for their support throughout the past 45 years.
