W.W. King may have won 32-20, but Patrick Henry gave them a run for their money. Patrick Henry Academy came much closer to winning than final score indicated. Patrick Henry Academy had its way with WW. King in the first half, taking a 20-8 lead into the locker room.
"Our game plan after viewing their film was just to pound Austin right at them because their defense has so much team speed," said coach Mike McCoy.

Wade Hampton came within one point of defeating a tough Allendale-Fairfax last Friday, but when the dust settled the Tigers won 21-20.
"They are the No. 7 team in the state for a reason," said Red Devils' coach Jim Shuman.
The Red Devils had a 20-7 lead at halftime, but Wade Hampton had injuries that the Tigers capitalized on.
"They attacked our weak point," said Shuman.
Within the first five plays of the game, the Red Devils lost running back Dondre Brown. They also lost Carl Stevens right before halftime, which hurt them defensively.

One word to describe last week's game against Battery Creek?
"Physical," said Estill High football coach JC Threatt after the Gators' 24-6 victory to open the season.
Estill took control early against Class AAA Battery Creek. By winning the coin toss and taking control of an early onside kick, the Gators struck first and fast.

The Hampton Youth Baseball League is beginning their 2010 fall baseball season. The fall league is for children who will be age seven to 12 as of May 1, 2011. Games will begin Monday, Oct. 18 and run until Friday, Nov. 19. The baseball league will work with kids who are participating in soccer and football. For the first two weeks games will be scheduled on Wednesdays and Friday evenings. The registration fee is $35 per child. Registration forms are available at www.hamptonbaseball.com. Wade Hampton suffered a tough season opener, falling 21-20 at Allendale-Fairfax on Friday as the football season officially got underway.
At Estill, the Gators kicked off their season with a big 24-6 win over visiting Battery Creek.
The Red Devils (0-1) will travel to Estill (1-0) next Friday for the big cross-county rivalry game.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry fell 32-20 to visiting W.W. King Academy. The Patriots are now 1-1 after a big 52-6 win over Greenwood Academy in their season opener.

Patrick Henry JV tops Jeff Davis 40-14

Tuten scores four TDs

Jefferson Davis Academy visited Cone Field Thursday night to face Nick Gohagan's JV Patriots in the opener for both teams.

The young Patriots jumped out to a commanding 14-0 lead in the first quarter on the strength of two Will Tuten touchdowns. Patrick Henry's dominance continued through the second quarter and Nicholas Doremus and Tuten each added another touchdown. The Patriots led the Raiders 28-0 at the half.

"We are here to Win!," were the words of encouragement from Coach Ruth and Coach Hopkins as the Gator Midgets huddled up to play their first game of the season against Allendale Tigers. Without a doubt they ran on the field ready to win. Elijaquan Wright and Christopher Williams scored the first two touchdowns of the season. As the game continued the team fed off of each others enthusiasm and the defense made it impossible for the Allendale Tigers to score.

The H-V Devils kicked-off their 2010 season this past Saturday afternoon at home against the Bluffton Bulldogs. The series of games began at 4:00 p.m.

Dynamites - 6 & 7 yr old team: The Devils were down 14-6 and with less than a minute left in the game Tucker Cook scored his 2nd touchdown of the game and the 2-point conversion to end the game in a tie with a final score of 14-14. Both teams played really well.

Patrick Henry kicked the football season off in style with a 52-6 triumph over Greenwood Christian last week.
The SCISA 8-man state runner-up dominated Greenwood Christian, in its inaugural season, after a two-hour lightning delay.
"I do realize that the team we played was very inexperienced, but we can't downplay the level of intensity of Patrick Henry's young team," Patrick Henry coach Mike McCoy said.

It's that time again, a time for blood, sweat and tears, otherwise known as football season. All three Hampton County teams will be laying it on the line on Friday nights for the next few months for their fans, their family and their school's honor.
Patrick Henry Academy starts it football season with a home game against Greenwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20. According to Patriots coach Mike McCoy, this is Greenwood Christian's first football team.
"We don't know anything about the school, they just added football," said McCoy.
