VARNVILLE - Wade Hampton had a tough week with two games on the road, but the Lady Devils showed their resilience with a huge conference win over Swansea.
They took a tough loss Friday to Silver Bluff, 40-50. They came back on Tuesday with a 72-31 rout at Swansea.
Ta'Sha Campbell and Stacia Frazier have been reliable in putting points on the board, even up against the tough Bulldog defense.

ESTILL - Gator Country had plenty to cheer about this week as Estill High tallied two more region wins on the season. The boys pulled out a close one against rival Ridgeland, 58-48 on Saturday night, after putting a hurting on Bamberg-Ehrhardt 88-22 Friday.
The Lady Gators couldn't quite get the baskets they needed on Ridgeland, falling 61-45, but they lit up the board Friday against Bamberg in a decisive 65-16 rout.
"We know what's at stake," said Estill boys coach J.J. Orr. "We're battling now to set ourselves up for play-offs."

TEE BALL (AGES 5-6)

The Pelion Panthers came knocking Friday, and the Lady Devils answered with a decisive 61-23 victory. The boys took the court for a more even match-up, with the Devils pulling out a 60-53 win to send the Wade Hampton crowd home happy.
Tuesday night's games versus region rival Barnwell were even more dominant wins for the Devils. The ladies shut the Warhorses down with an 85-17 win that bumped WH to a 6-0 record on the season and left no room for doubt about the girls' playoff contention.

VARNVILLE - The Red Devils hosted league rival Swansea on Friday the 13th, and it ended ugly for the Tigers. The Lady Devils dominated 54-27, and the boys edged out Swansea 57-52.
The Lady Devils took the court against Swansea and jumped out to a quick lead, overwhelming the Tigers with good hustle and smart ball-handling. The real accomplishment was holding Swansea to only four points in both the first and second quarters, for just eight points on the board at the half.
Coach Romon Gray is quick to point out that his team's defense is solid.

ESTILL - The Patrick Henry Patriots had their work cut out for them this week, with a stack of three region games to begin conference play.
Their response? They won them all.
Their week started at Andrew Jackson Academy on Tuesday.
"We played real well defensively in the first half," Coach Belinda McCoy said.
The Patriots outscored the Confederates 18-4 in the first period, and 15-9 in the second. A score of 33-13 at the half is solid defense by any standard.

The Carolina HEAT Baseball team is seeking sponsorships for their 2012 season!

This team of 10 and 11 year old boys are from Hampton, Estill, Varnville, Brunson, Grays, and Crocketville. The team's 2011 record was 15 wins and 6 losses. They defeated teams from all over South Carolina including Aiken, Lexington, Sumter, Summerville, and Charleston. This team was ranked #1 NATIONALLY for power rankings for USSSA Baseball before being moved up to AAA status - a higher level.

Time to register for spring soccer

Now is the time to register for the H-V United 2012 spring soccer season. To register, your child must be age 4 - 13 as of July 31st, 2011. A copy of the birth certificate is required for first time players. Registration will be online (there are no paper forms), so go to www.hvunited.org and click on the online registration link.

There may have teams for kids 12-13, this will depend on how many register, since this is the age kids can play B team and JV sports at school.
