There is a poll question on this site asking why is Obama getting critism for the job he's doing. One of the choices is racism. My question is this. Why do people always have to bring up racism when a black person seems to have things going against him or her? Are blacks the only people subject to this? No. I'm white and I've felt that I've been discriminated against on several occasions. Can't it just be he's receiving critism because he's doing a crappy job? If that poll question had been asked when Bush was in office, would one of the choices been racism. One more point. A lot of blacks voted for Obama simply because he was black. They didn't care about his views or what he was "promising" to do for this country. Some probably even didn't have a clue. Is that not racism? I told a couple of people that I was not going to vote for Obama and several people responded with, "Why, because he's black?". Absolutely not. Is that racist to ask me something like that? We're are not living in the '60's anymore so why does the media keep acting like we are.
President B. Obama
I am a African -American citizen ,a military Veteran and native of Hampton county. I was reading your statement or comment on President Obama. I can agree with you on the we're not living in the 60's part but the other stuff. That is your opinion. You have the right to say wheather you wanted to vote for President Obama or not. Most people voted for Obama and not McCain is that they are tired of Bush Shottie and Shifty ideas on what makes Amercia work. Plus, it was time for his presidency to end. Have you looked at the economy lately? Thanks, to Bush and his idea of making peace is finishing what his father started. Since, Obama got in to office employement has increased 10% that is not bad. It's not good either simple fact that there are still people with out jobs. Have you seen the report on that? No! Another reason why people don't like Obama is because he is not letting people ( the Media) rule him or make him change the fact how he feels about Amercia. He stand on what he believe that will help make America get back on its feet. He doesn't see black or white or any other race for that matter. He sees Amercia hurting and he try to help make it become untied. True, the media is always focus on the negative things that goes on in the world. It's your choice to believe it or not. I stop watching the news along time ago. They do alot of stereotyping.
Did you step back and look back at President Clinton as I recall he is a white man did a lot in the black communinty not only in the black community but, Amercia as a whole. No one mention that this man nearly cleared up the Biggest debt America had and employment was high and gas was like cheap as heck!!! No you see the negative thing about him he would have been the second president in America to be impeached. Why because he was getting booty in the office! True, that was unprofessional of him to do that but people tend to blow all that out of the water. Another thing Bush was in the military what this dude did? He "Dodged" the draft and you wanna condemn a man(Obama) for not joining the military. During that time he was doing what a normal teenager graduating high school does....... goes to college!!!
When I look at Obama I don't see color I see my Commander and Chief trying to clear up 8 years worth of mess! You stated Black people voted for him only because he was black!" That was racist remark you think that Black people are not educated enough to have an opinion or to think for themselves. I have voted here in Hampton and I hear the comments during election time. You think black people are racist? Black people not only voted for him White people voted for him to, Asian Americans voted for him, Hispanic Amercian voted for him, Latin American voted for him,Irish Americans voted for him,Itailian American voted for him, Native American voted for him! If you not getting the hint by now Americans of all race color and Creed voted for President Obama! They wanted change! Not only that young voters came out to the polls and had their voices heard they wanted change , they were tired of living in America where they are afraid of being drafted in to the military for a war by mad man with no clue!!! Wake up Smell the Roses America is on the verge of change and if you stay sleep on it, it will pass you by!
President Obama inherited a
President Obama inherited a large deficit, however, no one mentions that Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress have already increased the deficit by $1.7 trillion to $12.4 trillion in 2009. This is the largest single increase in the history of a first-year president. That's a large gap complared to what Bush had and it took him EIGHT YEARS to go from $5.7 trillion to $10.6 trillion. $4.9 Trillion in eight years verses Obamas' $10.7 Trillion increase in just one year. And what, again, do we have to show for it?
You say employment has INCREASED? Actually, despite these massive government infusions of money and industry bailouts, UN-employment went to 10 percent...not employment. Geez, I wonder where all of that money went? I'm sure Nancy Pelosi knows the answer as she flies overhead in her jet everyday, which by-the-way, you and I pay for. She has also voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006. Well, there goes alot of jobs. She has also voted to remove an amendment that would allow for oil and gas exploration in the Arctic as well as efforts to revive offshore oil drilling. So, she's flying back and forth to work in a jet everyday that we are paying to maintain. We pay for her fuel, her paycheck and yet she opposes anything to do with drilling for oil. So, guess what? That won't help gas prices which, consequently, also comes out of our pocket. But, we were talking about Obama. Sorry, just the thought of that cabinet of cronies gets me going. Don't even get me started on Sonia Sotomayor, the racist judge that Obama picked out. The same one that said "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." Now, who's the racist here? How can we let that happen? Okay, once again, we were talking about Obama.
You say Obama doesn't care about what the media says and you sir, are wrong. Prime example: Fox News. Fox news reports the way they see it. However, most main stream media agencies are left winged therefore up-playing anything that the Obama administration has done (or hasn't, to be more precise). So, what happens when one news outlet doesn't play like the rest? They get cut out. Fox News is no longer reconized by the White House simply because they "criticized" the White House. Glen Beck did, however, make a mistake in reporting and that was all the White House needed to shut Fox out. So, don't tell me that Obama doesn't care what the media thinks.
As for the dollar, it is just as low now as when Bush was in the office and it's not getting any higher.
As for using college as an excuse to not join the military: We have alot of people in the military that went to college. Most of them are called officers. They didn't use a college education as an excuse not to join the military.
As for Clinton, yes, he got us out of a deficit. Good job. All we had going on then was Allied Force (which lasted about 6 months), Desert Fox (3 weeks, if that) and the Cuban Cigar Crisis. It's easy to bail ourselves out when we aren't spending money on protecting our country.
Now, on to Bush and the "8 years worth of mess". Once 9/11 happened America had questions. First, how did this happen? Well, let's back track to Clinton who once said, "I got closer to killing [Bin Laden] than anybody has gotten since. And if I were still president, we'd have 20,000 more troops [in Afghanistan] trying to kill him."
Instead of pulling the trigger, however, he chose to pass if off as some minor insignificance. That is not to say that the Clinton administration wasn't in a better position to eliminate bin Laden. Evidence before the commission showed that the Clinton administration had live footage of Usama bin Laden at a camp in Afghanistan, a whole year before the 9/11 attacks, but didn't act! The bipartisan 9/11 commission concluded that -- far from doing more than anyone to kill the brutal murderer who now is the international face of terrorism -- President Clinton had flatly refused to allow the military or CIA to kill Usama bin Laden. Clinton's instructions were that bin Laden should be taken, if at all, alive not dead. CIA officials reported that this instruction cut the chance of success in half.Tom Brokaw, playing the tape on-air in 2004, noted rightly that this was an enormous opportunity lost. Having gotten bin Laden in your sights isn't something to brag about if you weren't willing to pull the trigger. --AP--
Well, that gives us a good answer of how something like this could have happened aside from the obvious. The obvious being how the hijackers actually got our airplanes. Now, the next question America asked was "what are we going to do about it". Bush responded by taking the war to them. And have we had anyone die on US soil from a terrorist attack since then? No. But, I constantly hear the Dems whining about gas prices, the decline of the dollar, Bush this, pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan that and my favoriite, the ethical treatment of terrorist at Guantanamo Bay. Boo-freaking-hoo.
Point blank, George Bush acted. And it was HIM that didn't care what the media thought. He never shut down one of the left winged channels. He is the reason that we go to work everyday and don't have to worry about a 747 crashing through our window. The Dems have whined and cried the entire time. People whined about gas prices, the dollar and everything else. America has long forgotten what our forefathers went through to earn our freedom. Yet, we whine and cry when our personal lives are affected by tragedy. Is Al-Queda burning your homes and hanging your families as the English did? Is a military draft even in effect? No! "But our gas prices went up and the dollar is down now so when I take trips to to Europe a panini costs me about $5 instead of $3". Whoopedy-doo!!! But we took...and are taking care of...buisness. No one is burning homes. No one has even struck the U.S. since 9/11. If Obama were the president when 9/11 happened we'd have been watching negotiations between him and Osama over tea at the White House on 9/12.
Now, look back on that. Does any of that have to do with color? No. Honestly, I'm ashamed that we still have people asking questions regarding race. Is there really racial (or any other) inequality still? I mean, we have a latina Supreme Court Judge, a transgender woman on the Obama administration, a half black/half white president and a variety of genders, races, religions and cultues that are leading us. How can anyone sit back blame their lack of education or shear willingness to get a job on their race, gender or religion when so many people of the same are leading you?
I don't blame race on anything. I blame mindsets.
