Our Fallen Heroes and Veterans

What happen to this County called HAMPTON? Why has it always been about paying for the Council that's voted into office and ALLOWING THEM TO RUIN OUR COUNTY? What happened about the people who live here and standing up for what's right?

If the county has an ALL WARS MEMORIAL then any person who has lived, worked and owned property, served THEIR COUNTRY and DIED WHILE IN WAR then they should be honored.

Buck was loved by many here but yet those who run our county only HONOR THEIRSELVES AND THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH MORE THEY CAN TAX PEOPLE but never want to HONOR OUR WAR DEAD.

Memorial Day 2009

I was so blessed to be one of six families of the SC Fallen Soldiers that the SC National Guard out of Columbia sponsored to attend the TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) National Seminar for Memorial Day Weekend. This is a seminar that brings families across the United States together to take part in workshops on grief and how to get through each day. We were also bused in to Arlington National Cemetery to be part of the the Presidents speech to the soldiers and families of the fallen.

Blogs, Members, emails & buddy list

I have been a subscriber to the Hampton Guardian since I moved to Hampton. The paper has gone through many changes. The website also has gone through many changes since it was first put online. I've enjoyed reading and responding to the articles that have been online.

Mother's Day when your child has died, how do you cope?

On November 12, 2006 my middle son Buck Winkler was killed in Iraq. That was news that no parent wants to get. You aren't suppose to bury your children, that's just not the norm of things. I have to say that your child doesn't have to die in war, whatever the circumstances the death of a child is the hardest thing that a parent can ever cope with in life

About: Palmetto Electric

I've lived in Hampton County since March 1995 and have called this home. I have totally enjoyed the Palmetto Business Meeting, which really isn't a business meeting of sorts but a fun filled day for people of all ages. It's something about just being appreciated by the company that gives you a since of being in a great big family.
