Calling all current and former Boy and Girl Scouts!

I can still tell you exactly what kind of Girl Scout cookies Blanche Amick (my elementary school crush's grandmother) ordered every February. And I could count on Gerald and Janet Boyd to buy a couple of boxes of Caramel Delights.

My time as a Girl Scout was educational and fun. We went on trips, learned to cook and tie knots, and did the camping thing. I loved it, and I loved watching my little sisters be inducted into Daisies and Brownies, too.

What about you? Did you have a crazy camping experience? Want to share your stories of selling cookies or popcorn?

The theme of the Watermelon Festival this year is Scouting in Hampton County, and we want to hear your Scouting tales. We also want to see your photos. Have embarrassing pictures of your friends in their Brownie sashes with bangs a mile high? We want to see them. Have pictures of your Eagle Scout project? We want those, too.

Being a Scout is a big part of life for a lot of kids - and adults, too. Let's share those experiences as we celebrate Hampton County, Scouting, and - of course - WATERMELONS!
