Comments and blogs will be moderated

Just a reminder: We love to have comments and blogs, and we think it is beneficial to the community to provide this forum for everyone.

However, The Guardian has the right to remove posts as we see fit. We will not allow racist posts, nor posts that attack people. Each comment will be moderated on a case-by-case basis, and if we determine something is not appropriate, we have the right to delete it. Yes, you have a freedom of speech in public places. But a private business has the right to determine what is acceptable within its own walls.

Comments on stories

The Guardian welcomes your comments and input on news and information on this site. However, I'd like to take a chance to remind you of a few rules and regulations.

First, if you use foul language, it will be edited or your post will be deleted. No cursing or name calling.

What would you ask the candidates?

Calling all current and former Boy and Girl Scouts!

I can still tell you exactly what kind of Girl Scout cookies Blanche Amick (my elementary school crush's grandmother) ordered every February. And I could count on Gerald and Janet Boyd to buy a couple of boxes of Caramel Delights.

My time as a Girl Scout was educational and fun. We went on trips, learned to cook and tie knots, and did the camping thing. I loved it, and I loved watching my little sisters be inducted into Daisies and Brownies, too.

What about you? Did you have a crazy camping experience? Want to share your stories of selling cookies or popcorn?

Come enjoy Lake Warren with us

One of the places in Hampton County that I first fell in love with was Lake Warren State Park. I made my first trip there for the Family Fun Day to kick off the Watermelon Festival last year, shortly after I moved here.
Now, I'm not a majorly outdoorsy girl (For one, I don't glisten, I sweat; and second, I don't tan, I fry,) but I do appreciate the beauty of nature, and God certainly gave Lake Warren an abundance of that.

Welcome to your new Web site!

As you've noticed by now, www.hamptoncountyguardian.com has undergone some major changes. We've been working on this for a long time, and still have some kinks to work out, but I hope you'll like what this new site provides.

The Thursday paper will still be the primary source for information for our area. We'll continue to have in-depth stories there, along with lots of photos of events from the county.
