summer programs
Does anyone know of any summer programs offered for sophmore white males and females. Seems the ones above are for race of black students only. Thank you.
Wow even in 2009
You know what is so amazing to me, that there are still people like you...when I say that I'm referring to your ignorance and not your race; who after all these years still fan the flames of racism and segregation in Hampton County. The last time that I checked education didn't have color, Morehouse accepted students of any race/nationality, and low-income didn't just apply to minorities because as we both know being from Hampton County that there are PLENTY of low-income white folks. So when you say programs offered to "White males and females" what programs are you referring to because from what I read above those programs seemed to opened to black, latino, white, asian, and any other child wanting to get a jump on their post-secondary education...I'm sorry if that's over your head...post-secondary education= undergraduate (college) and graduate (master's/professional) education. I attended some of those summer programs and I'm a proud graduate of Estill High School and Norfolk State University.

Guess you need to back to school and learn what the meaning of the statement open to all means.. The last time I checked open to all means just that open to all that means any person who is interested, but of course if apply and act like a redneck racist then you may not get in... So before you go making a statement like all the jobs listed above are just for blacks you learn how to read and understand the listings.
Re: PinkRooster Needs To Read This Comment
Well, I can certainly see both sides of the fence. However, lets not lower ourselves further by name calling. I can see how you guys may think that Pinkrooster is racist but then again, maybe she's just frustrated and feels like our "equal rights" just doesn't feel so equal. And I can see her point. The OBAP camp is open to all, yes. But, is the organization? I only ask because it says to obtain an honorary membership one must "provide extraordinary assistance to black pilots in their endeavor to attain skills and mobility in the aviation industry". Now, does that sound like equal oppurtunity? Is there an organization that provides honorary membership to people by providing assistance to white pilots? If such existed, what would be said about that? Also, REALSCGIRL54, you should proof read your replies and ensure you're not missing verbs like "go" and aren't missing puncuation marks between sentences before telling someone to go back to school. Thanks and have a great day. DA
Missing verbs and etc
I meant to write it that way... Just as I just ended the sentence before with not only one period, but multiple periods because I was wanting to make a point.
You will find mistakes everyday in the local news articles in the State paper including misspelling and etc., and these writers have been to college and taken the proper courses which include English.
At least when I went to school more than 30 years ago we where given a passing grade and sent onto the next level only when we truly earned it not because of the clause no student will be left behind. If we did not get it we where failed and stayed behind while our other classmates who passed where sent on.
Plus, I never once called her a name oh if you are referring to the name redneck excuse me!! There are plenty of people in this area who consider themselves rednecks. Guess next you will be e mailing Jeff Foxworthy not to use that term, because he is calling or labling someone by calling them names.
Also, you are not really worth the time I have wasted on answering this, but you may want to now the meaning of your screen name. The noun meaning is as follows:
SOMEONE WHO TAKES THE WORSE SIDE JUST FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT....!!!!!
End of discussion!!

"You're right. I just
"You're right. I just thought it sounded cool and have no real knowledge of the word", Devil's Advocate said sarcastically. But try it in this sense.
dev·il's advocate (děv'əlz)
n.
Also, redneck, according to Jeff Foxworthy, is "a glorious absence of sophistication". A "redneck racist" is something entirely different. I don't think Jeff Foxwothy has ever used that one in any of his stand-ups. If he did, I doubt it would be funny. I simply think we should educate people before trying to attack them over something that may have been taken in the wrong perspective.
Re: You're right
Well guess it just goes to show how right my husband was. He said it would not do any good to try and talk with you as you would be one sided. Guess his 25 yrs in the military as senior ranking NCOIC was 100% dead on about people like you. He had some choice words for you, but I am not going to print what he said about you.
As I stated before I was not using the "RedNeck" comment in a racist way. If you took it that way then it is your problem. A lot of people could have taken what she said about the offers being only for blacks as being a racist remark. I was brought up here in the South and was never raised to be racist and I never will be. I grew up on a farm where there was no whites except us for over 7 miles. I had plenty of black friends that I played with and they are still friends to this day.
Hope you will have a Blessed Day and This will be the end of the discussion!!
rec soccer
why does the council want to change the name of the rec league soccer program. what is the reasoning. seems to me that one council member has it in for anything that has varnvilles name attached. did the council member approach county council to see if any help could be given towards maintenance of rec fields in the town. i hope the soccer club can find another place to play. as for the fee's to be placed on kids from out of the town limits, who is going to monitor the walking trail at lightsey park. i'm sure some people from out of the town limits use it also. that goes for the tennis courts also, all these places have to have maintenance performed there also. will there be a fee charged at nix street for people wanting to use it that dont live in the town limits?

Ma'am (Real Girl SC54)
So far you've managed to try to degrade me by giving me a half-cocked definition of my own name and furthered your name-calling by getting your husband involved by telling me that he had some "choice words for me". You say that Pinkrooster's comment could have been taking in a racial perspective and I agree. I think it actually was taking in that perspective by you and one other person. She should have worded that a bit differently, I agree. Let's keep in mind though that according to her statement that she's a sophmore. Albeit, 10th grade or second year of college she's still young and requires education from folks such as yourself rather than attacks or humiliation. However the case, you still have not answered my questions. I'll ask again. Until someone can make this make sense to me this, as you said, will not be the end of the discussion.

Also, as a current member of the armed forces AND myself being an NCOIC I appreciate your husbands previous service to his country.
for SOPHMORES, that would be
for SOPHMORES, that would be 10th grade, not a JR, 11th, not a senior, 12th grade, SOPHMORE, all other programs were or appeared to me to be for other than 10th, exception was the aviation. Application was denied, no reason given. Classes were not full---at that time, but application was denied, I requested an answer, (every 4 days, total of 6 so for) as to why, but have yet to be answered. The connotation was implied by the application, not by me.
