My Opinion

My opinion on Capital Projects Sales Tax. Link is Capital Projects www.marciawood.net

 I should have added a P.S.

Sabrena Graham, County Administrator gave me a very good explanation of the plans for the law enforcement center. Made sense to me! If it happens, let the architect draft the design one time!

CONCERNED

I think it is terrible for those young children to walk such a long way to get to their destination. Who in the world thought of a drop off point for their child in front of a club? I was told by a parent that they walked to the club to meet their 5 year old only to see the same bus went to North Disctrict and put children off. These people live down from that school. How bad is it for those kids to ride to that location? I guess it won't end until something awful happens.

Hampton District 1 Transportation Policy

Is Hampton District 1 compromising our children's safety?

Jailbreaking the iPhone 4 is legal, and the hack is now accessible

Sunday, jailbreak for the iPhone 4 happened. The hack liberates iPhone 4 owners from the shackles of the Apple App Store. The iPhone 4 jailbreak allows a phone to download unapproved apps from unapproved app stores. An advantage of jailbreaking destined to become immensely popular is unlocking access to other networks than AT and T. Jailbreaking the iPhone 4 "can severely degrade the experience" if you ask Apple their opinion.

Parents Unite

To all concerned Parents and Community members of Hampton County School District 2.  Please come to the Parent Involvement in Education (PIE) meeting on August 2, 2010 at 6pm at the conference room of the Estill Medical Center.  There is power in unity.  We are not an exclusive group.  Everyone is welcome to come.  We need to address the numerous problems and concerns with our schools.  A few parents cannot do it alone!  Our united voices made changes in the past and we can now!  We need support from all concerned parents!

Who gets the blame?

Previous blogs have blamed school districts for all the budget cuts that are changing the schools in Hampton County. We cannot blame school districts when their funds are reduced by the state. We cannot blame the state because state funds have been reduced by the “feds.” Place the blame where it belongs, in Washington. Our congressman and the present administration are the ones to blame. Education should be the first priority. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

Buyer be Aware of Sales Tax Rate

Some merchants may still be charging the 8% sales tax rate rather than 7%. Please visit the Sound Off link on www.marciawood.net for my July experience in Hampton County.

About: Virgin Johnson Academy charter denied

For full article see: Virgin Johnson Academy charter denied

I guess some people need to mortgage their home like they claimed they would do to get this school started. How could they tell the public there was going to be a charter school and didn't even have it approved!  Was it a lie and con from the start? Just asking.  Can't count your chickens before they hatch.
