What's Shakin' - UPDATED

Howdy, friends of Hampton County. This new events blog - What's Shakin' - is exactly what it sounds like, a quick guide to let you know what's shaking in our hometown. Several times a week I will share updates of upcoming communty events, so if you have something you want to announce pass it on and we'll share it with the local community and the world. Just email us your events to news@hamptoncountyguardian.com and then look for them on our What's Shakin' blog, and in the news or Community Calendar section of The Hampton County Guardian print edition.

CPST Forums

Monday night (Jan 23rd) is the night of the 1st of three CPST (Capital Projects Sales Tax) forums that will be taking place between now and Jan 30th. This 1st forum will be held in the Bull Durham Building in Estill at 7:00pm. The other two forums are scheduled for Jan 26th in Yemassee at the Town Hall and on Jan 30th at the Hampton Fire Department, both at 7:00pm.

Wade Hampton Sweeps Swansea

It was a crazy night on the court, y'all, and when the dust settled WH took the wins.

The Lady Devils sent the Lady Tigers home 54-27, improving to 2-0 for the conference. Coach Romon Gray has said all season that the girls would get tough on offense the same way they've been shutting teams out on defense. His team is starting to live up to that potential, and it's beautiful to watch.

It's income tax return time!

It is income tax return time in the U.S., and W-2s will be in the mail soon. What will you do with your anticipated tax return (provided the government gives you anything back!)? Will you pay bills, or do something nice for yourself or a loved one? Or just blow the heck out of it?

Leave a comment here, or email me at michael.dewitt@morris.com, and perhaps we'll share it as part of a feature in The Guardian. And please remember, if you have any extra cash left over, don't forget your old pal, Mike.

See you at the bank!
